Important Points

? When making a bow stance and spearing up the hand, shift the body center forward, turn right toes outward and turn in the left toes.

Fig. 155

? When lifting the foot, turn the waist, bend the knee and draw in the foot before lifting it. Do not drag the left foot on the ground or press it against the ground before lifting it.

? When standing on one leg and spearing up the hand, relax the torso, turn the waist and shoulder forward and to the side. Bend the arm into a curve, bend the wrist and extend the hand, drop the shoulders and elbows, making the web between the index finger and thumb opposite the tip of the nose, and the knee opposite the elbow.

? When landing the foot, turn the waist and bend the leg, and land the ball of the foot first. Do this movement gently and completely.

Common Mistakes

? When bending the leg, the feet do not turn on the ground, which makes the lifting of the foot and one-leg stance unsteady, and the movement is awkward.

? When lifting the foot, the movement is heavy, the toes drag on the ground or abruptly kick off the ground.

? When standing on one leg, the body is tense, the stance is unsteady, or the leg and the waist bend, the lower leg comes forward, or the toes tilt upward,

? When landing the foot and pressing the palm downward, the waist is not turned, and the foot makes a heavy landing.

? When spearing up the hand and pushing the palm downward, the arms, hands and wrists are too tensed or too relaxed,

? When spearing up the hand, the palm turns forward.

29. Tulbu Chudnzhdng 退步穿掌(Step Back and Thrust the Open-Palm Hand)

Slightly bend the left leg, move the right foot backward one step, kick-straighten the right leg naturally; bend the left leg, and turn the left foot straight pivoting on the ball of the foot, forming a left bow stance; turn the left arm outward, turn the left palm upward and draw it to the waist, and thrust it across and over the right forearm, until the wrist reaches shoulder height; turn the right arm inward, the flat palm pressing downward until it is underneath the left elbow. Look at the left hand. (Figs. 155, 156)

Fig. 157

Fig. 157

Important Points

? Bend the supporting leg, turn the torso to the right, move the right foot backward passing the inside of the left foot. Land the ball of the foot first, then turn the left foot straight pivoting on the ball of the foot to form a left bow stance.

? Tum the left hand and thrust it upward to head level, and turn the right hand and push it downward to chest level.

Common Mistakes

? When stepping backward, the torso leans forward, the right lower leg is lifted up behind, or the supporting leg is not bent.

? When making a left bow stance, the front foot is not turned straight forward, but the toes are left pointing outward; or the feet cross and the back leg is bent.

? The legs move faster than the hands, making the movements of the torso and lower body uncoordinated.
